Side A 「NAHKNY-TIIMATOH」

Side B 「SARAHAMA NU HAIMA」

Makoto Kubota has been rediscovering and transmitting folk songs from all over Japan. Released in August 2018, the remix tracks on this CD are now available in analog form. (7inch 45rpm)

[Track lists]
Side A "NAHKNY-TIIMATOH"

The basic Okinawa folk song, NAHKNY (MIYAKONE) is sung by Shoutoku Yamauchi, one of the best folk singers in the postwar era, whose voice was said to be one of the most beautiful voices in 100 years. His beautiful, light-hearted groove and vocalization could be described as the Nat King Cole of Okinawa.
The track was very respectfully remixed by Oorutaichi, a brilliant artist known for his various works and projects. The synthesizers reminiscent of gamelan, and the electric decorations modulated by voices and other sounds, are very radio-friendly and work well with the original track.

Side B "SARAHAMA NU HAIMA"
Sarahama on Irabu Island, a remote island on Miyako Island, is the last place in Okinawa where folk rituals were strictly maintained. This song is written about the molting of a crab which is sung by the women of the Tsukasamma, the priests who perform the ritual. They sing this song while walking from place of worship to another place of worship. This song has a positive meaning that identifies the image of rejuvenation and revitalization with human beings through molting.
Mikio from Black Wax, a funk jam band from Miyakojima, remixed it in tropical-mode. Marino, a member of the band, played saxophone, and Makoto Kubota, who played bass guitar by hand, also created the rhythm loops, but the main drum part used in the second half was done by master drummer Daichi Ito.
