それまでの、歌唱力勝負、演奏力勝負的な方程式を、あっさりと、ユニークな声の質感と、日本の洋楽ともいえるサウンド・アプローチ(カヒミ・カリィなど、のちの“渋谷系”“ウィスパー系”に受け継がれていく)で、吉田美奈子や大貫妙子らが同時期に創り上げていたCITY POPともまた一線を画した、新しい価値観、世界観を示したのがこの佐藤奈々子だ。ジャズ・ギタリストの横内章次をアレンジャーに迎え完成させたセカンド・アルバムでは、デビュー作に続き、盟友・佐野元春との共作ナンバーが、その楽曲嗜好をさらに広げ、ボッサ、ソウル、ブギー、スウィンギン、と聴くものに一瞬のスキも与えないほど、凄みを増した、密度の濃ぃい楽曲がズラリとならぶ出来栄え。メロウ・ボッサ「フェアウェル・パーティー」を聴くだけでも、ため息が漏れてしまうはずだ。

The second album, featuring even more awesome numbers co-written with his ally Motoharu Sano.
Includes two bonus tracks.
Nanako Sato's unique voice and sound approach, which could be described as Japanese Western music, easily changed the formula that had been based on singing ability and performance ability, and showed a new sense of values and worldview that was distinct from the CITY POP music that Minako Yoshida and Taeko Onuki were creating at the same time.
The second album, completed with jazz guitarist Shoji Yokouchi as the arranger, further broadened the band's musical tastes with numbers co-written with her close friend Motoharu Sano, as in their debut album. The album is a dense collection of bossa, soul, boogie, and swingin' tunes.
Just listen to the mellow bossa “Farewell Party” and you'll let out a sigh!
